Introduction

The Wedia DAM allows efficient management of InDesign Packages files in .wedia format, designed to ensure high-quality PDF outputs tailored to printing needs. These files offer exceptional flexibility through the on-the-fly generation of multiple PDF formats.

Prerequisites

  1. Generating Adobe InDesign Packages with the Wedia Extension

To generate .wedia files, you must download and install the Wedia extension from the Adobe Exchange store. This extension enables you to package an Adobe InDesign (.indd) file along with all necessary links and fonts as a zip file that is renamed .wedia to ensure correct identification at upload in the DAM

  1. Server Configuration

Deploy a PDF profile (.JobOptions) tailored to specific printing requirements on the InDesign server connected to the Wedia DAM.

A PDF profile defines the specifications of the expected output (e.g., with or without crop marks). This profile is created in Adobe InDesign and exported in .JobOptions format.

JobOptions are managed in Adobe InDesign through the Adobe PDF Profiles menu :

Follow these steps to integrate it:

  • Export a .JobOptions file from the InDesign Adobe PDF export settings.

  • Deploy this file on the InDesign server connected to the Wedia DAM through a request to your Wedia Account Manager

Configuring the Resolution Table

Info

You can test if the joboptions by opening the file view with a developer role in the back-office of a .wedia document and checking if the new PDF profile is available :

Once the .JobOptions file is deployed:

  • Create a new entry in the Resolution table in the DAM : the “variation” name should match the one visible in file view.

Assigning the Resolution to a User Role

Once the resolution is validated:

  • Access Wedia Config.

  • Assign the resolution to a specific user role.

This will allow users with that role to download this resolution via the file’s single download options.
