Manage Search Filters and Universes

Starting from 2023.1.0, Starter kit provides a user interface for managing portal search. It is now possible to edit or create a universe and its associated filters through this interface.

The feature is accessible by default to users with a "Developer" role. It is possible to grant access to other roles directly from the role management interface.

Configuration capabilities

The interface allow you to configure :

  1. Portal universes

  2. Portal top filter bars (per universe)

  3. Portal advanced search filters (per universe)

  4. Metadata displayed on the block display mode

 

Managing Filters

The types of filters managed by the configuration interface are:

  • List: Allows you to select one or multiple values from a predefined list.

  • Tree: Provides a hierarchical structure for selecting values.

  • Number: Allows you to filter based on numeric values.

  • Text: Enables filtering based on text input.

  • Date: Allows you to filter based on date values.

  • Yes/No: Provides options for filtering based on yes or no values.

  • Grouped Filters: Allows you to create filters that are grouped together.

Please note that the form of the filter will depend on the metadata you select.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The filters page provides an overview of all the portal search filters. From this page, you can create new filters or filter groups.

To create a new filter, click on "Create a filter" and fill out the form. Filters are pre-configured with operators that you can modify by editing the filter if needed. After creating a filter, it will not appear on the portal unless you edit a universe and assign the filter to it. Changes are published immediately.

Managing Universes

 

The universes page provides an overview of all the portal universes.

From this screen, you can reorder the universes by drag and drop, create a separator, duplicate a universe, or add a new universe. Changes are published immediately.

Create universes

To create a new universe, click on "Create a new universe" and fill out the form. The standard configuration options for a universe include:

  • Name of the universe

  • Choice of one or more asset libraries

  • Choice of asset types

  • Choice of date options:

    • Less than 1 week

    • Less than 1 month

    • Less than 3 months

    • Less than 6 months

    • All

  • One or several custom criterias based on the metadata of your choice : select the metadata, and then the value(s).

For each universe the interface allow to :

  • Add, order, or delete filters

  • Add, order, or delete advanced filters

Please note, changing the operators of advanced filters is not possible through the interface. Users can only select the metadata they want to appear in their advanced search.

  • Add, order, or delete the metadata displayed on the Block display mode

Please note once you have clicked on “Save the changes”, the changes are immediately visible on the portal, there is no publication steps.

Limits

Two main use cases still require a developer intervention :

  • Several tabs in advanced search

  • Complex filter with several tabs
