About Styles
Apply at least one paragraph style per text frame
Create your paragraph styles first and the character styles in addition
Don’t leave overrides ⇒ create character styles
Remember the users will see them in the platform
Avoid files in paragraph and character styles
About Layers
Place the frames you need to lock in a specific layer
Don’t forget to actually lock it
Using a color code can help, especially if you are a team working on it
We recommend you to use a "red/green" color code
About the final check
You must have the message "No errors" at the bottom of your InDesign’s interface
Â
Make sure there are no overrides in the frames
⇒ Make sure there is no "+" on your paragraph style when you select the text in a frameÂ
Make sure there is no unnecessary weight: your file will be handled through Internet (image file sizes)
Delete all the unused styles, swatches etc.
Recommendations
Open the frames: Always wonder "what will happen if the text needs to be longer".
Remember: the Tag marker is a character
Never leave a line break at the end of your text! This would create an overset.
Always open your table text frames.
Integrate the bullets in the paragraph style to prevent the users to write "Dingbats" and to be confused.
Anticipate their needs: Users always need "bold", "italic", "superscript"…
Anticipate your needs: base your style sheets on each other to benefit from the domino effect if you need to change something
